Biography

Gail Cunningham O’Donnell is exploring the intersection of fibers, cut paper and printmaking in her work. She is interested in the repetition, routines, and predictability that a home can create. The way domestic objects can give a feeling of security or insecurity, and how those objects reflect back to us who we are. As a printmaker, she tends to re-work the same images over and over again introducing new variables each time. O’Donnell is currently working on her MFA at SUNY New Paltz, and received her BFA in Fibers from Oregon College of Art & Craft. She has shown in Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Beacon and Cold Spring, NY, Falls Village, CT, as well as internationally in Dublin and Wexford, Ireland, and Paris, France. She was the Artist in Residence at the Samuel Dorsky Museum in New Paltz, NY and at Cow House Studios in County Wexford Ireland. O’Donnell worked as the Studio and Production Manager for Carolyn Ray Inc. in Yonkers, NY for eight years where she was the color mixer and hand painted fabric yardage for interior designers. Currently she has her own line of naturally dyed yarn, Hudson Highlands co.
